Estate Planning: Who will walk in your shoes?

Many wealthy families have earned their wealth by being an entrepreneur. So, consider how hard it would be to find that perfect hire for your company, either full time or part-time. They would need to be someone who you can trust and rely on, and you would need to think carefully about what the role would look like. Now, imagine if that hire was to replace you and walk in your shoes; this is the role of a power of attorney.

 

Today, I share how you should choose someone who will walk in your shoes as your power of attorney in your estate plan. I highlight how your chosen power of attorney will decide what happens when you can’t make decisions for yourself and how essential it is to find the right person or corporation. I reveal the differences between an ‘attorney’ in Canada and the US and describe the roles of a power of attorney for property as well as a power of attorney for your care.
