Wow 😲! Can you believe it’s been almost a year since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown? On this episode of “I’m a Millionaire! So Now What?” – we pay homage to the 1-year anniversary of the Covid-19 lockdown.

So much has happened: obstacles, adversity (personally and professionally), but also opportunities and advantages.

Instead of talking about how many businesses have closed, we took a moment to be pay our respects. To be quiet for 60 seconds 🤫.

And to celebrate the businesses that pivoted successfully.

You know my story and how I pivoted to LinkedIn and the journey of how this led to Elevated Conversation roundtables 👏

But there's so much about COVID-19 that is out of our control. So, what can we control?

I'm reminded that the really the only thing that's within our control is our thoughts and yes, in this episode you’ll get more of how thoughts = action = results.

I hope you’ll be inspired when you learn how using the Serenity Prayer can help, no matter what your religious or spiritual beliefs.

And from my reflections on what this pandemic has taught me. Plus (BONUS!), I’ll leave you with a little poem that came to me when I was running and reflecting, for when the going gets tough.

Enjoy!

My family will tell you that I’m a bit of a control freak. And yes, a control freak who knows the value of self-reliance is how I’d describe myself. But this is a double-edged sword isn’t it? We need to connect, to trust, to work with people.

Which is why I’m drawn to the idea of “Who Not How and the “Who Then What” concepts. The former comes from the same-titled book written by Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan. In summary, “Who Not How” suggests:

“That instead of asking, “How can I do this?” ask:  “Who can do this for me?”. Don’t limit your potential based on what you can do on your own, rather focus on the connections between yourself and others around you – and the limitless possibilities available through those connections.”

The latter concept was championed by Jim Collins and his “Good to Great” series.

Here’s an excerpt:

“The executives who ignited the transformations from good to great did not first figure out where to drive the bus and then get people to take it there. No, they first got the right people on the bus (and the wrong people off the bus) and then figured out where to drive it. They said, in essence, “Look, I don’t really know where we should take this bus. But I know this much: If we get the right people on the bus, the right people in the right seats, and the wrong people off the bus, then we’ll figure out how to take it someplace great.””

Cameron Herold offers so much additional wisdom on building teams (and I talk about him a lot). He’s one of the many business owners and entrepreneurs I've introduced you to – whether millionaires and members of the self-made nation already, or those at the infancy of their journey. They joined me here on “I'm a millionaire! So Now What?” to tell their stories, or in a group for elevated conversation roundtables.

We spoke about grabbing the bull by the horns in the bear market and how to grow when it’s low. How obstacles can be opportunities and an ode to gathering .

Asking questions like legacy or freedom? Freedom or legacy?

Are you building your business to sell? Are you building it to last?

And most recently, drafting your dream team and how chaos can turn into control.

And all these conversations link back to this theme of control.

With Covid-19, I realised the only thing we can control is our thoughts, our thoughts beget our beliefs, which turn into our actions. And our actions are, in turn, what creates our results.

So, step back, take inventory, and think about what you do have control over.

This one is for everyone, whether you’re religious or spiritual or anything in between.

And I leave you with a little poem that came to me when I was running and reflecting 😊

where you focus what you believe

that is what you will see

how you will achieve the things greater than you.

I hope you can take a quick break and have a listen!
