Lara Murphy is the co-founder of Ryan Murphy Construction, an award-winning construction company run by two women. Her journey as a business owner and entrepreneur began at 16 when she founded Handy Student Maintenance, which led to the founding of Ryan Murphy Construction. Lara's business has been recognized and featured by PROFIT 500, Canadian Business, Maclean's Magazine, and Alberta Venture. Lara currently serves as the Director of Business Development and Strategy as well as the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Lara joins me today to share her story of women, wealth, and work boots. She highlights why relationship building is vital in any business and reveals the diversity of the team at Ryan Murphy Construction. Lara shares how her business launched just before the 2008 financial crisis and how the company survived this event. She also describes what the Calgary economy looks like today and shares how business growth is being encouraged and supported by the business community.
